I have an elements folder and inside I have folders for everyplace I download from. Inside that I have a folder for the person that made the element and if it is a kit I make a folder for each kit. When I burn them to a CD, I then print thumb nails of all the elements so I can easily find them.

Ok, well I'm kinda on the right path then... I have a LOT of elements from this site that I'm not sure who created, but everything I've downloaded for the last month or so I've made seperate folders for. Thanks for your help, esp. about making the thumbnail index print... good idea!

I do some basic organizing of elements on my hard drive by having a folder for each site I download from. If I have lots of elements from that site I also will do subfolders for papers, charms, elements. But the way I really keep track of things is in PS Album. I have a scrapbook category and tags for things like paper, charms, words/alphabets, eyelets, metal, tags, etc. When I bring the elements into PS Album, I add captions to each element saying who created it and where I downloaded it from. PS Album shows you a thumbnail of the element and you can search for things by categoty, tag, caption, date of import etc.

I just wanted to mention my method since you're thinking of getting PSE and you can get PS Album bundle with it. I also use PS Album to manage all my pictures. It's really nice to be able quickly find all the pictures of I've taken of my son at Christmas for the last 4 years.

HTH!

well!!! another valerie on the boards!! hello!
i have my elements organized by type (ie. tags, ribbons, pagebytes, etc). there may be subfoders inside there. when you download an element from sbb, the creator's name or username is part of the file name, that way you always know who to give credit to. if you download from a site where the person's name is not part of the file name, just rename the file when you save it so that you know who to give the credit to.

Well hey, I almost NEVER run across another Valerie online

I do like that about SBB, that the member name is right in there.

And I also like the idea of storing them in a Photoshop folder... I gotta get my little hands on that software!!!!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I thought there was an element tracker that was posted in an Ezine sometime ago... hrmm. I'm going to have to research that for you Valerie!
