Color Inspiration
Yep, I've played many a time when I had "art block" with that.
Another thing you can do that doesn't involve the computer, is to go with your spouse to the hardware store. Tell him to find you when he's done. YOU go to the paint section and gather up those chips. (He gets to shop without being "bugged" and YOU get to play!)
Take all the chips home and dump them on a table face down. Shuffle them around like a little kid with a deck of cards. Pick 3. One is your main color, one is the secondary color and one is the accent.
Now, sometimes it may be unworkable... or, you could look at it as a "challenge".
I have LOTS of paint chips hanging around here because I just moved in, and I'm in the process of painting all the walls. But I didn't notice anyone at the store yelling at me for grabbing a handful (maybe 20?) each time I'm in there.... You can have quite a "collection" really fast.
I also used to do this with my quilting and art students. Have them pick 3 chips and make a block, or a painting using primarily the colors they chose. Sometimes it just takes a little push to start thinking outside the box!
