Link for those needing color scheme inspiration

ok last night I was bored and coiuldn't sleep and was going through various websites. I found this neat interactive color selector on the Behr paint website. you pick a color and can fine tune it and then decided if it is an accent or main color and then it will create 8 4-color color schemes for you. you can even go as far as putting the color to a room but for scrobooking purposes you don't need to go that far. SO never get color stumped again.

http://www.behr.com/behrx/workbook/index.jsp

click on the explore colors like i chose interior but chose what you want to and wait for it to load.

have fun!

Color Inspiration

Yep, I've played many a time when I had "art block" with that.

Another thing you can do that doesn't involve the computer, is to go with your spouse to the hardware store. Tell him to find you when he's done. YOU go to the paint section and gather up those chips. (He gets to shop without being "bugged" and YOU get to play!)

Take all the chips home and dump them on a table face down. Shuffle them around like a little kid with a deck of cards. Pick 3. One is your main color, one is the secondary color and one is the accent.

Now, sometimes it may be unworkable... or, you could look at it as a "challenge".

I have LOTS of paint chips hanging around here because I just moved in, and I'm in the process of painting all the walls. But I didn't notice anyone at the store yelling at me for grabbing a handful (maybe 20?) each time I'm in there.... You can have quite a "collection" really fast.

I also used to do this with my quilting and art students. Have them pick 3 chips and make a block, or a painting using primarily the colors they chose. Sometimes it just takes a little push to start thinking outside the box!

i have tons of paint chips but I don't use them for that. And I'm the hardware store junkie not my husband. I used to be more of a night owl than I am now and where I lived in California Home Depot and Kinko's were 24hrs so guess where I was at 3 am when i was bored and couldn't sleep and this was befroe i had internet. LOL one time i spent like $80 on stuff there like and electric staple gun, and all kinds of silly stuff.

never the less I like the online paint selections because I have ColorCache which is free for non commercial use but the license is only like $20 and all i have to do is use the eyedropper and export the swatches as a photoshop swatch set. and VOILA! done.

it's fun. I like gadgets.

Tanya

Oh and my desk is already covered in things paint chips would just be more of a mess LOL.

Tandika - what an awesome idea! I think I'm going to try it. I also want to recommend Color Cache. I used other programs, but none came up with colour schemes as easy or as effectively as Color Cache!
