Digital vs Paper

I do both, and have since day 1. I started scrapping because I was learning how to take photos. I had to do something with them, right? Then I got hooked, and well...

I like the creativity of both types. Each is different, and I end up with very different looking things. In my case, I print out my digital pages, also. The one GOOD thing about them is that I can print out 2, so, eventually each daughter will have one. That's harder with the paper pages, unless I happen to make 2 identical ones... which I usually don't.

They're fighting over them already, and I'm not planning on "leaving" any time soon!

I purchased a few supplies to paper scrap but I didn't like doing it. I got so nervous about making a mistake that it just wasn't enjoyable anymore. I did a search one night because I wanted to make ABC books for the kids in my family on the computer as I needed many copies and like LeeAndrea found this place and have been computer scrapping since. I really enjoy it.

I started last year with the idea of wanting to start paper scrapping. Got so excited at all the gorgeous stuff there was to buy (I LOVE Paper and all that stuff!!!) and started hoarding it in anticipation of scrapping pictures of my soon-to-be-born baby and all the pics of my older daughter. One day I was surfing and found SBB, got hooked that fast! There's no way I would get rid of my paper stuff (I even bought some more at the May 1 on QVC)--I use it to make cards and gift tags for people. I have only made a few 12x12 pages the traditional way and a 4x6 album. Digital scrapping is just so much neater, especially because my toddler gets into everything and I don't have a space dedicated to scrapping.

i just wanted to add that the reason I haven't stopped paper scrapping is that there is something special and unique about holding the papers in my hand and manipulating it to form my ideas. SOme aren't roiginal and are plain but so are my cg lo's at times. i just scrap for the moment be it paper or cg. I don't care if it doens't turn out like a magazine lo i just tear away or slap glue on it or color it or whatever i feel like. I started when i was 17 ( now 24) with creative memories and didn't buy much there because i was 17 and couldn't afford it. Insted i started buying stuff i saw elsewhere as well. or i'd use my mom's hand me downs I never loved diecuts or cheesy stickers so i still have a ton of those i'll never use but i hide them and gradually give them to my little one who has a art desk complete with a light board and desk lamp ( luckyy duck!) and she makes her own little art witht hem I even give her the scrappy pictures that i'll never ever use so she has soemthing to do to. People often are scared of the paper because they don't kwo what to do. Well i don't either and i don't stress it. True that withthe comptuer you can hit undo but what i like about paper scrapping is that I CAN"T undo. i have to live with my imperfections and in the imperfectiosn is where the beauty is.

That's why I often just stop and finish a LO on my comptuer to. no they aren't always perfect and i could make it so but why be perfect?

I also really love touching the paper and little clips and all that. I'm a paper junkie. I buy paper i won't use because it's cute or pretty. i have eyelets and stamps and ink pads and all kinds of things i've never used but want to use. I just don't paper scrap as much because of lack of a place to so it. my kitchen table is really just a breakfast bar with 3 stools and it is big enough but i can't leave all my stuff out with the lovely 3 year old running about and she can climb.

so yes i'm long winded but i finally woke up today.

thanks for letting me ramble again gals!

Cool

I have only been paper scrapping since August 2003 and digi scrapping since around mid January 2004. I love both but find that paper scrapping is a chore purely because one of my cats thinks its a wonderful game to get amongst all my supplies when I bring them out. Computer scrapping doesn't entertain him and I get peace to do what I want. Since finding SBB I must admit to doing almost no paper scrapping, the undo feature on digi scrapping is much more convenient. I will eventually go back to paper scrapping and I still make cards now and again, my love for paper is too great to abandon it!! Digital scrapping has been an excellent way for me to learn how to use my photo editing software and boy I still have lots to learn so I'll be around for a while longer - like forever - SBB members have taught me so much. In the meantime my paper supplies are increasing, o.k. its an addiction but I don't know of any self help groups for scrapping that don't encourage you to buy more!!

I use to paper scrap every friday night with my friends, but all of our supplies grew till it was to inconvient for me to store everyone's things in my craft room, and it was hard for them to carry their supplies back and forth. if we were a bit more organized, and planned our pages we probably would have continued. now we have a theater effect in my computer room. this is where we line up chairs behind the computer and work on digital scrapbooking. the input is interesting, none the least! wish i had about 3 computers then we could pair up and still be together.

I love working with paper and for me it's a cheap creative supply.
I normally do anything with paper (presents, make 3D figures, make cards,...)
I try to learn every skill there is, but am coming up short.

I don't like too much material (I love a free open space)
I don't like photoalbums because they take up so much room

Now I've become addicted to computer scrapping because
- it's cheap (I already have all the machines and software)
- it doesn't take any extra room (materials, photobooks / CD's)
- I love to be creative
- I like to show off our pictures nicely

I do admid maybe I'll paperscrap for some big event. -much later- But I don't want to do it for every little thing like fixing up some part of the house.

Bye

I do, I do!!

I still love paper scrapping too. I have to admit when I first started digi scrapping I was hooked, and I do way more digi scrapping than paper scrapping, but still ove to paper scrap, make cards, mini albums.....

I think it's the best of both worlds .
