Hopelessly New

There is so much here, I feel like a kid in a candy store! Haven't really got past aisle one yet!

I understand copyright (in general) and manners (in general) and the application of both when using shared elements etcetera but I am a little fuzzy on the "inspiration" side. I have about ten (okay, I lie, about 100) layouts that I am inspired to do based on layouts I have seen posted here (see "kid in candy store" above ) and I wouldn't dream of posting my version without giving credit for the inspiration but is it considered either mandatory or just plain nice to first receive permission from the scrapper to use their layout as the inspiration?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but don't want to violate forum rules.

Hi there,

Scrappers "scraplift" regularly. When I do it I always put scraplifted from a LO by ...... and if I don't remember or can't find who I copied it from then I put that in too. Sometimes others recognise who did the original and will let you know.

WELCOME!

SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU HERE! And GREAT question! YES, it's OK to get inpsired by others!!! THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT, RIGHT??? And YES, it's kind of an 'unwritten courtesy' to give the proper credit to WHO you got the inspiration from or scraplifted. EVEN WHEN IT'S A SCRAPLIFT OF A SCRAPLIFT! LOL! It's just so nice to have the proper credit given to any & all creators. I have seen many byters 'lift' something from someone who lifted it from someone AND THEN GIVE THEM ALL CREDIT. I just think that's so sweet!

You'll find so many helpful, wonderful, talented people here. Truly, this is an extraordinary community. Welcome & can't wait to see more of your work!
