Question about Credits

Hi,

I'm new to digital scrapbooking but I've made a few layouts already and I would love to post them but one thing is bothering me. Do I have to give credit for all the various elements and papers I use in each layout? I don't want to offend anyone if they see something they've made in my layout, but to tell you the truth, I've downloaded so many freebies that I don't know where a lot of it came from! Thanks for your input.

Kristin

Hi Kristin! *wave* Glad you've been able to get into the swing of digi-scrapping!

As for credit... yes, it's necessary, when at all possible, to give each element's creator credit when you post. Perhaps you can at least give a website if not an individual's name? If you dled most of them here, you can look back in the Elements section for their name and/or ask us when we comment on your work to let you know who made what.

In the future... make sure to store that information in the file name! I usually rename the elements I dl into what it is, as simplified as possible, an underscore, and then the person's name, i.e. bigsunflowertag_leeandras.png. I know some more organized women also have Excel spreadsheets to store all that information for future reference.

HTH!

I always try to name all the elements and who made them or where I got them. Leeandra's suggestion is great. But, I am no that organized, LOL. When I don't know who to credit, after reflecting on my files, I name the file and put a ? by it. At least I tried right, LOL. -ALi

When I download my files I put them in directories named for the site I got the element from.

Then when I get time I categorize them with PhotoShop Album. I've set up categories for backgrounds and various types of elements. Plus I add a comment in PS Album that says were I downloaded the element from and who made it. All of this is searchable information, so if I want to I can find all the backgrounds I have that were created by a particular person.

It takes a little bit of time but has be very useful for me.
