Right now I've convinced the hubby that I really need a new scanner... the old one died when we moved to Japan and I've been dodging the purchase of a new one thinking I could go without... but now that my son is starting to make his own artwork, etc, I'd really like to be able to scan it in for use in LO's and such...
So, here's the question:
We don't have a lot of options available at our local store. The two scanners that they have (that aren't all-in-ones) are the Canon -CanoScan LiDE 20 or the HP Scanjet 4670. (the All-in-ones are epson cx5400 and Lexmark x5150 but my husband insists that all-in-ones always sacrifice quality for convience.. *shrug*)
Primary purpose for me having the scanner: scan in old photos for use in DSB'ing and Scanning in artwork, etc made by my son and daughter.
There is a HUGE difference between these two items. I'm pretty sold on the HP but my question is about DPI with scanners. I see listed on many "scan: max optical resolution 600x1200 dpi" or substitute 600x1200 with 600x2400 etc. The HP says 2400 dpi - does that mean 2400x2400? The scanners also mention interpolated resolution... what is the importance of that or is it no significant when scanning photos, hand made art, etc...?
I dont' really know much about scanners. The first one we owned we got at the after Thanksgiving day sale that Best Buy was hosting and it was $9.95.
Anyhow, any help or advice would be good. I'm not going to purchase it for a few days and I'm still trying to read up on the web as much as I can to make sure I get something that will work for DSB'ing.
Thank yoU!
