Question Mosaic template?

Hello all!

OK, so I am new enough that I have NO idea how to create a grid (I use PS7). But would love to use a mosaic template. Anyone know where I could download one or instructions on how to create one?

Thanks!

I am not sure what you mean by mosaic. It is way over my head..

Do you have an example we could see?

By mosiac are you meaning squares or something that resembles random shaped tiles. There are some photoshop actions that you can download at http://share.studio.adobe.com/ for mosiacs. You can also "cut" individual squares from a photo and arrange them like tiles. If you use the rectangle marquee, set at fixed size and enter the dimensions, then you can have perfect square tiles. Like Natasha said, need an example to get a better idea for what you mean by mosiac template. -Ali

You would do that the same way I described in my reply to your other post. To make it easier on your self, you need to use your guides! Under view, new guide, enter the inches for each guide. If you have your snap feature on, it will do the work for you. Then you can use your line tool or a color fill to make the grid pattern over your photo. I might play around today if I have time and do one myself, cute LO that you posted as the example! -Ali

Yes, I would do it the same way as Ali..

Enter in new guides, like for example - one at 2cm, one at 4cms, ect...
Then use your brush tool, on a new layer, hold down your shift and follow the guide down to create a straight line, do this until you have as many as you want. Once you are finished that, use your eraser tool to eraser the blocks you dont want...
Then to get the different colours, use your magic wand to select the squares you want to change. (on your "grid" layer, then go back to your photo layer and apply the effect.).

Really hope that helps. If not just shout..

Actually I made my own - well technically I copied. I scanned some commerical paper scrapping ones and then using the grid in my graphics program, created the shapes on 8 by8 and 8.5 by 11 layouts. Unfortunately, I cannot post any of the templates nor pages since that would be violating the commercial copyright.

In order to use them I simply 'fill' the rectangles with my precropped photos and add embellishments.

I found time today to do my own version Here is a little tutorial of how I did it.

http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/galle...hp?photo=20601

You can use the rulers or grid, but I love the guides. I set mine for every inch to form my own grid and make sure snap option is checked.
I arranged my photos, applied B&W gradient map, and merge layers
Then I create the grid using the rectangle marquee set at fixed width to do my lines, but you can use a brush like Natasha or the line tool. I just use the marquee b/c that is how I am used to doing it Then do a color fill to fill the lines. Duplicate the layers and change size as nessecary to form grid.
On your layer palate, select the photo layer, and using the marquee tool again randomly select areas and go to layers>adjustment layers>color balance to tint the sections.

Hope this helps! -Ali
