Getting rid of "jaggies"!

I am new to Digital Scrapbooking and am trying to figure out in PSP7 how to place a picture on my layout and rotate it a few degrees without getting "jaggies" on the edges of the photo. I looked on the internet and found some example of how to get rid of them but they were for elements you make and not photos. I tried a few and it didn't work for me. If anyone could help explain the steps I would so appreciate it! I love the nice smooth pictures that are turned a lttle on your layouts. THANKS!

I get this sometimes too, but I use photoshop. I don't rotate photos too often, but I don't like the "jaggies" either I'd love to hear a response also- from anyone - no matter what program you use.

If you don't get a response here, you might want to repost in the software forum under PSP.

Sorry I couldn't help, but at least I bumped you back up to the top

Thanks!

Thanks! I keep checking to see if anyone could help. I will keep searching the internet and maybe come up with something. If I find out first I'll let you know. There must be a way to do this!

Hi S Robbins-

I use PSP, but I'm not sure exactly what is happening to your photos. When I want to tilt mine a little, I use the distort tool. The square one with the little circle points. If you move your mouse to the center, you will get a curved arrow. It's kind of like a little bar in the center that allows you to move the picture either direction until you like it. I do this all the time, and have never had jaggies. I may be totally off base, and if I am try to explain again, so we can try to help you further. Post this in the Paintshop Pro forumn as well, and maybe some other psp users will be able to help further. I hope I've helped you some. Let us know.

There are a few tutorials out there that help to cure the jaggies...

Here are some that I managed to scratch up...

I have hope!

Thanks for your input everyone. I did know about the reposition box but it still makes Jaggies when you turn the photo but, I think the tutorials on using point to point lines may help. I will need to play around a little and see. I'll let you know if I figure it out. Thanks again! Sandy

I did it!

I finally figured it out and It comes out beautiful! Here's what I did:

Open your photo (image) and place it on your background as a new layer.

Rotate your photo slightly (you will now have "jaggies" on the edges of the photo.

To eliminate them, pick the lasso tool and set selection type = point to point and antialias = on.

Make your selection by clicking your mouse once just inside the top left corner of the photo, then click again at the right corner, then the bottom right and then double click back at your starting point. You will see the "ants".

Now, copy (ctrl + c) and paste (ctrl + e )to your layout as a new raster layer.

What a difference! Nice smooth edges! You can then add drop shadow or decrease opacity to make this a page background.

The clues came from a tutorial on Perspective from Pinoy 7 website.

Thanks to you all for your help and let me know what you think after trying it!

Sandy
