I just have to ask...............

is everyone here a trained graphic artist? The gallery is a wonderful reflecrion of LOTS of talent.

I'm having a terrific time browsing all the creative layouts, but wondering if I'll ever be able to produce such nice work.

If you don't have specific design training, how did you acquire your skill?

TIA!

Actually, I think most of us here haven't had any training. I've had zippo training myself...and actually, I've only been working with PS since about this January (though I've owned it for over a year...lol). Prior to PS, I did all my layouts in MS PictureIt.

For me, I just learned through experimenting and lots of time and patience! PS is a monster of a program and I just didn't let it intimidate me...I treat it like a treasure hunt, constantly trying out different features and techniques just to "see what happens". I get the biggest high when one of my "experiments" actually works...it's the most amazing feeling to be able to create something from scratch!

Hi, Susan, and welcome!

Like Shannon, no training here either. I have learned from books, playing around with the programs, and trial and error. I use PS also and agree that it can be a bit overwhelming. But, the effort required to get started is worth it. There is nothing like the thrill of finding or discovering something new you can do with the program.

There is a wealth of talent on this board. I think every program that could be used for computer layouts is being used by someone here. And everyone is willing to share and help others figure things out. So, ask away if you have any questions!

nope, i'm a design dummy myself, but getting better. DH is a graphic designer, so he knows PS and helps with my questions ALOT. but i've always been terrible at design. he's never liked anything i've tried, posters, announcements, whatever. BUT now he's really digging my pages and says i've developed quite a style and my design is really good. the best compliment to me! so i just started playing and learning and developing. and i really stunk to start with! much improvement is needed i think, but at least i'm getting there. have fun with it is the most important part! the design will follow!

Does fingerpainting count? (Im an early childhood teacher) I am absolutely useless without the computer and some days lousy with one lol But I find the puter way more flexible.
All I do is play pretty much to see what happens, take on a challenge or two and play some more
