Not happy with my layouts

I look at all the wonderful layouts in the gallery and wonder why mine don't look like those. The one I see always look like they were done on paper, not on the computer. I want mine to look like that. Am I being to conservative with colors and elements and the background? I like how you all make your backgrounds look like real paper. How do I do that?

Does anyone have any pointers? Can you look at my gallery and tell me what I can do different?

Laura you have some good ideas & lovely photos & to me look as if your are improving your techniques as you go! One thing that always gives a 3-D look is drop shadows - do them on everything (just take car not to get carried away & make them too big!!0 Keep studying LO's on the gallery that you admire - even scraplift a few (remembering to give credit) its all good practice. But don't be hard on yourself - you are doing well & remember its fun! take care, Meryl

EXCELLENT advice -- and most of all read through the forums and ASK LOT's of questions. There are so many knowledgeable people here to help.

LIke Meryl said pick you layout you admire and try to duplicate the things that you like about it.

At the same time, everyone has a different style. And that is what makes them stand out among the crowd.

Enjoy yourself.

Laura, your layouts keep getting better, and they will keep getting better! You're using PSP, right? I've seen your use of the program improving leaps and bounds with your sigs lately, too. I'm always available through PM or e-mail (here or at CMC) if there's any help I can offer

Laura I can see wonderful improvement in your pages! it takes time to learn teh techniques in scrapping and you are certainly making improvements.
Everyone has given you wonderful advice, shadowing scraplifting, tutorials and practice are teh ways everyone learns. Texture is important with backgrounds so experiment with that. Dont be afraid to play with no destination in mind ..you can always hit that delete key!
