Background/transparency

I'm having trouble with one of the graphics I downloaded from Elements. It's set on a black background & I can't get it changed into a transparent, so that I can place it in my LO. How do I do this? I am using PP6.

Hello Amy and welcome to SBB!
Sorry I don't use that program , but here is a recent thread where I attempted to help someone with the same question- who had a different program than you, but maybe you'll notice something that will work for you

using downloaded elements

HTH- if you don't find your answer, feel free to repost in the software forum under your particular software.

BTW-I did suggest to admin & DTM's that it would be nice to have an area where questions about elements were answered. Shelleyrae said that they were "putting something together"- so that is good news!

I tried to resolve my BLACK box behind only 7 elements (out of about 50) that I have downloaded so far. I followed the link from the response that you received and then followed the 2 links from there. My problem is that the black box shows up when I just click on the ZIP file and then click on the file unzipped. None of the problem elements are just .PNG files. The file comes up (I think it's just the windows viewer) with the black box.

What I can't figure out is: Why only these elements? Do I just have to avoid these elements? or Do I wait, and when I actually insert them into whatever program I use, and try different methods to get rid of the box then?

If you figured out this for yourself or if someone reading this figures it out, PLEASE let me know!

can you link to a specific element that you are having this problem with from the elements gallery?

what are you using to view the file? You mention that the file type is not .png? what type is it? ARe you running the extract from zip or viewing it in the zip?

We'll get this figured out with you soon enough!!!

Thanks so much for being willing to help! Here is the link to one of the elements:

http://www.sbbytes.com/elements/memb...nna-Aspnes.zip

I am unzipping the files. Yes, they are PNG files once they're unzipped. I then click on the file, and it comes up (I THINK it's the windows/fax viewer). This is when it appears with the black box. Again, it happens only with about 7 out of the many, many elements I have downloaded. I've handled ALL of them the same way; there are NO problems with any of the rest...hence my confusion.
