Re-tagging :(

Yes, I'm kicking myself. Somehow in my efforts to fix somethign I have managed to delete my ACDSee database AND the backups. I can't believe it. So now I have to start all over again and I have tons of stuff!!! So I"m starting fresh and going with a simpler approach which I can add to and make complicated as I go along. In the meantime it's slash and burn time as I'm being brutal about the cuts. If I just know I'm never going to use it it's going in the circular file. This hurts but I'd rather spend my time tagging things that I'll use then clutter it up with things I won't make use of.

Anyone else have to start over? The one good thing is it's like going shopping for nothing.

I actually just had to do this because I didn't read how to MOVE all my kits to my EHD! Yes it is definitely like shopping all over again, but I also saw a lot of stuff I had forgotten about.

What I did to really speed up my tagging was drag my organizer tab out along side my main display window. Then when I looked into a kit's folder I selected all the papers or elements depending on how I wanted to tag them and then just dragged and dropped them unto my correct tag word. I had my category folder tree structure all expanded and that worked the best.

Good luck I got over half my stash done in just a couple hours, then I am taking a break and will start again soon.....

How much stuff did you have Tracey? I"ve got tons because I went shopping like a mad woman while I was recovering my data from the crash. Now I'm kicking myself for making so much more work.

Ok how can I find out how many GB's are in my Digital Kits folder on my EHD?
I do know it took me 5 DVD's at approx 4.7GB apiece to burn the kits.
I am half way through the 47 SBB Element team kits.

YOu can right click on the folder and select Properties to get the size of the folder. I I'm working on it in bits and pieces but I"ve only just finished the "A". And that is in the stuff that was already tagged. That doesn't count the ton of stuff that I hadn't tagged. UGH!! Ordinarily I like organizing but this is a massive project. Maybe if I forbid any more shopping until I"m done I'll get it done faster.

One thing I did to make life easier while I was tagging - I gave up on colors. It was just too much effort to tag items and their color! Also, I just tag 1 item in a set of alphas. That saves a lot of time. Good luck, Serena!

I have had ACDSee for about a year and a half and I just finally caught up on all my tagging last week. That's what I get for hoarding so much stuff!

Yep, I've been recently going through this also Serena! I'm so sorry! I have my database saved, but it doesn't do much good when you've lost all your hard drive of goodies. I am like you though, I looked at the positive side of starting over! I've actually got so many new designs to scrap with since then (a few months ago) that I'll be busy scrapping for awhile (when I actually decide to get something scrapped). I love ACDSee, but after all the work I put into tagging I'm not looking forward to doing it again soon. I'm sure I'll do it again at some point, but I just haven't had the time.
