Have you printed on Cardstock?

I don't have any photo paper on hand. I'm planning on heading out to go get some. But, I was wondering. How many of you print on cardstock? Is here reason for printing on cardstock? What are the issues for printing on cardstock?

Also anyone know if there's an article comparing all different types of paper? Like glossy vs. semi and satin??

Thanks!!!

I don't know of an article to help you, but I can say I do print some things on cardstock.....but, if you're using regular cardstock, you will have a very low quality. Photos, especially, won't look as crisp and clear as they would if printed on photo paper, imo. I prefer to print my layouts on photo paper, and save cardstock for kids homework projects and similar items. For my layouts and photo projects, I prefer to use professional-quality matte photo paper, but glossy works, too, if you like a little shine.

I've printed some things on cardstock, but not photos. Your colors won't be as clear and could look muddy. That's because photo paper has a coating so the colors don't bleed and run into one another.

It really depends on the cardstock and your printer. I print holiday cards and gift notecards for a local store that sells them and the "photos" come out great. I use an old Canon i960 inkjet and cardstock from redriver papers - they come out looking fantastic! I typically use the matte cardstock which looks much better for my purpose than the glossy... but have used the glossy for holiday cards which do provide a more "photo quality" result.

My advice is to just try it... but be sure you purchase card stock that is good for ink jet inks... you cannot just use any paper in the inkjet such as posterboard.. the ink won't absorb and will just make a mess on you and your printer. Good Luck!

I print on card stock every now and again... The card stock that i buy has a high amount of starch in it... making it very smooth so it prints very well.
