i usully start out with the exact items, but once i get my photos and things on there, I find i start changing to suit MY layout.
I think the hardest NSD challenge for me was the recipe one, because I started as usual, then ran off iin my own direction, and had to reign back to fit the ingredients! I ended up saving my layout as a psd. file to use for later!!!

Well, I'm new so maybe this is a common thing for newbies...

During the chats, I realized I want to see examples of stuff to get ideas. I'd go through the gallery to see what other people did for the challenge before even trying any of them hehe.

If I'm doing a layout based on suggestion I have no problem coming up with my own ideas, BUT if its a sketch challenge or a template is involved...I pretty much stay within the lines. I think that I so appreciate the creative mind that originated the sketch that I want to see how my papers and elements and journaling work using the same framework. Its not that I don't have any original thoughts...its just that I trust the real designers so much more.

Well I'm glad it's not just me! I tried to go a little out of my comfort zone for the Recipe Challenge, using part of a sketch and using elements I've never tried before. Tell me what you think! My layout is here: http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/galle...p?photo=283534
