wide format printers

Good Morning. I'm trying to decide on a wide format printer. It's either between HP or Epson. Does anyone have an opinion? Lisa

I have an HP....would you believe I've had it over a year but haven't used it yet??? I also got some awesome matte 13x19 paper at Staples for $10/box...it was being cleared out at 75% off!! I guess I'm too cheap to open a box and try it! One thing I LOVE about the HP is that it uses the same print cartridges as my smaller HP All-In-One, so I don't have to buy separate ink. Just plug the big one in, install cartridges and go.... well, .....one of these days I'll go!!! LOL

If it were me, I'd go with Epson. My mom has had 3 HP printers go bad on her. Granted she's not very tech savvy, but it's not difficult to print and maintain. Plus I think Epson has a better reputation for printers in general.

Yes....I plan on making 12x12 scrap pages, then fitting some smaller ones, like 6x6's at the bottom as fillers...my paper is 13x19, so I can get 3 pages printed one one sheet. This is the only large paper that I can get here.

I agree, HP printers may get a bad rap sometimes, but I live in an area where we don't get a big choice. Staples had one, at just over $300 CDN. My FIL says his Epson is easy to refill cartidges. If you do get an HP, just do a custom install, not the full one. HP likes to take over your computer with a whole gamut of photo editors, organizers, etc. etc. etc. But like I said above, using the same print cartridges is a BIG PLUS. (cartidges dry out if you don't use them.)

I have a wide-format Epson and the only complaint I have is that it seems to run out of ink a lot. I'm very happy with the quality and ease of use.

I echo everything lavendar said! I Love my Epson, but it does seem to go through the ink fairly quickly. And yes, it does do 12X12 boarderless printing.

I have an HP deskjet 9650 that prints wide format from edge to edge and I love it. I've had it for several years. My other printer that I use for day to day stuff is an Epson Deskjet 952C and I also love it. Never had any problem with either one....
