I think there are lots of different reasons for why some people put only one or two photos on a page. In addition to those already mentioned: (1) I think most people who do digital scrapbooking actually print at closer to 8x8, which is MUCH cheaper to print than 12x12. When you pack a lot of photos on there, they become hard to see at that size (which is one reason I still print at 12x12, though I cringe each time I see the bill); (2) a lot of people who post their pages are on Creative Teams for digital scrapbook designers -- they are showcasing products not necessarily photos, and it tends to be effective to use fewer photos and more of the product; and (3) a lot of scrapbookers use the process as an serious artistic outlet, and creating beautiful layouts, using lots of gorgeous papers and embellishments is an important part of that artistic expression. They might not do it if they were basically just creating a fancy photo album or photo collage.

I'm not a great journaler myself, but a lot of people feel that's the most important part of a page!

Hope that helps?!

Yes Dawn it does.

I think once i get more involved I will feel differently! I didn't even thing about the showcasing part of it (and that might be more of what I see).

Thanks Dawn

MIrranda and I are both designers selling here at Scrapbook-Bytes, but its rare to find someone who exclusively uses their own stuff to scrap with.
I have tons of stuff and love using others things - in fact i find it hardest to scrap with my own designs lol. Your own style will tend to evolve and change over time

It requires a lot knowledge of your program to design successfully and a lot of hard work - you can start with our extensive tutorial section http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/a-tut...sh/index.shtml and you can start with the resources in our free download section here http://www.scrapbook-bytes.com/chat/local_links.php and by watching the Blog Freebie section of the forum

Plus there is a big sale coming up on November 3rd - a great way to purchase stuff and stock up

Marcia- I make scrapbook designs that I sell in the store here at Scrapbook Bytes.

However, most of the stuff I use in my own layouts is from other designers.

I don't use 1 photo layouts much mostly my layouts carry more then 1 photo and a story.
Some I add lots of embelishments to, others only a few.
It depends on my mood, the mood of the photos, my artistic or parental view and so much more....
Mostly when I post layouts with only 1 photo and lots of open room I add journaling later for me personally....

Great questions and wonderful responses. I believe that each person has to decide for themselves what they like. I tend to use just a few pictures (and many times only one) on each LO. I am horrible with journaling (even having a tough time writing this). I almost solely rely on the talented designers here for papers and elements. I print my LOs on 8x8 - and if I crowded to many pictures, they would be hard to see. I'm sure you will find what you enjoy and I look forward to your LOs.

Have to agree with SR & Carin ..'depends on the mood' lol
If I were doing a baby album as a keepsake I would include more photos but if I just want to capture a moment, I usually pick one photo as the main focus of the layout then add smaller ones to add to the story. The best part of digital is anything is up for grabs and you get to make it up as you go, gotta love that!
I use a lot of my own designs simply because it is a 'trial run' of how they will work together but using another designer's product seems to be much easier than using my own.

I think the fact that you're already addicted says it all. That's the way it is. Did/do you paperscrap? I didn't and it's been a learning process for me, which I'm still doing. When I first started, I was filling up the page with photos and elements and such. I'm still trying to get to the less is more and white space is good. It will take awhile, but it's lots of fun going through the process.
