Stamped metel letters

Can someone tell me how to make those cool stamped letter squares? Like the one that says "love" on the winning layout on the home page.

sharon could give you a better answer, but when i asked her about them (i wanted them as soon as i saw them), she told me that it was actually a font that she tweaked.

Hi, Jennifer and welcome! What program are you using? I am using PS and am not familiar with all the other programs that people are using. I did do the word "love" with a font that I used a bevel on. If you are using PS I can try to help you out.

I am using PS7 and have tried to cut letters out of colored blocks and then bevel, but they just don't look realistic. The hardest part to make look right is the color of the actual letter (the part that is recessed). Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Jennifer, Gloria, and anyone else that might be interested,

This is how I created "LOVE" on the Cowboy Hat layout. You need to start with a font that is like a rubber stamp. In other words, it needs to have the letter image on a rectangular background so that the letter itself is a "negative" image. You could create this, but it would require more steps and is much easier if you have the stamp-type font. Them simply type your word. If the letters don't touch each other adjust your spacing so they are butted up against one another. Next click on the "add layer style" icon. Check the box to add a drop shadow. You will need to play around with the size of the drop shadow and the placement of it depending on the particular font that you use. Then click on the bevel and emboss box and add an outer bevel. Again, you have to play around with the depth and the size to get it right for the font you are using. But, I left all the other settings at their default. That's it! Pretty simple actually. Hope this helps you out!
