Most of my LOs have a lot of journaling but I seldom put them in the comment area because I didn't think anyone would be interested in it.

Thanks for let us know.

I really have been trying to journal more...and it's not 'special' or labored over. It just my ramblings and often I don't proof read it...just my natural rambly thinking and I know I must have lots of grammar mistakes - esp starting sentences w/'and' and fragments lol. And sometimes (see...I did it again w/the and lol) one sentence or just a date and place is all I feel for the LO...and sometimes just a title too.

But I scrap everyday so I figure I'm getting in plenty of journaling and putting down of my feelings

I have gotten so much enjoyment and been touched in so many different ways from LO's that include the journaling and also additional info in the description area. Kind of takes the fun out of looking when you have to struggle to read the journaling in the LO.
I am guilty of not including additional info in the description but always try to include the journaling.

Same here Brenda- my grandson has been referred to as my son because I seldom clarify relationships in the description and it isn't always apparent in the journaling.

Ditto to everyone on including more details in layout descriptions. I admit that sometimes I don't put much, but I always put something. I don't always include the journaling, though. I should do better at that...

Karen--I'm not an English teacher or anything, but I learned in my college writing classes that in informal writing (I figure most scrapbook pages are not business letters...) it is perfectly okay to start a sentence with "And." And, in my advertising copywriting classes I learned that fragments are okay, too. Whatever it takes to communicate your message. I personally feel the best journaling reflects the speech patterns and thoughts of the writer. More personal that way. It's really up to you!

Oh I agree! I love to read a little description....even if it is just one sentence about what is happening in the post. (Many of the pictures I scrap are those that were taken many years ago). I'm terrible at journaling and truly admire those that do.

I appreciate it when people include an explanation in the description area--it's wonderful to know a bit more insight to the LO or what process they used to get it to that point.
I do know that not everyone reads descriptions though, because people have left comments about my 'daughter' or my 'sister' when I've clearly stated the person in the photo is a niece or a friend's child, or my aunt, etc....
