Serious newbie here, DIP or Photoshop?

Hi,

Obviously, I'm new here.

However, I'm so much more than a newbie to the forums. I've never even tried to do a cg lo. My computer skills are limited to e-mail, surfing the net, and writing word docs in Word. LOL! I get very overwhelmed by all-things computer and don't really have the patience to tinker around with things like Dh does. So, I have a few things working against me. LOL!

Anyway, we have Photoshop 7, but I'm wondering if I should get Digital Image Pro and start with a less powerful program? I'm not sure. I've looked into the tutorials for photoshop and my eyes start crossing, I start breaking out in hives, hyperventilating...(no, not quite that bad, but cloes, LOL!).

So, given my current skills (or lack thereof), with what would you recommend I start out?

TIA!

Well PS is an awesome program...but can be quite daunting! If $$ isn't an issue...then go ahead and get DIP...it's got a pretty easy learning curve and Shelleyrae has written TONS of great tutorials to help you learn the program. I think there will be some sales to get DIP for really cheap on Friday.

since you already have PS7, I'd say go with it. It is an awesome program, and can be intimidating, but, if you can just relax and play with it, you will soon get the hang of it.

Don't be afraid to try everything it has to offer. I've found that the tutorials are just the starting place, and spending lots of time exploring and playing will yield positive results.

PS...Don't expect to learn it all in one day. I've been using it off and of for several years and I'm still learning new things.

and the folks at this board are very helpful.
