Red face Organizing&Storing??from newbie

Hello!
I'm brand-spankin' new to this and have been reading forums for the last few days. I am a little OCD so for that reason I feel I have to get this "all figured out" before I jump in! I have downloaded the PSE trial and have bid on the real thing on ebay. I have learned a little about layers, and think I will slowly learn the program. What I'm most concerned about is the saving and organizing of all these goodies!
I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with the Creative Memories photo organizer Memory Manager. I currently use this to organize photos and it is awesome, however I wonder if it would be easily compatible with PSE to store digikits, brushes, ect? Anyone out there use this?
And one more thing (sorry for the length!) I am already stressing about the saving of all this on my computer (did I mention the OCD?). I can burn CDs but not DVD's on my computer. I like the idea of printing the previews from digital kits and putting them in a folder with the CDs as I read on a thread here. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this since I can't use DVDs? Should I just look into purchasing an external hard drive now or am I jumping the gun??
Thanks for reading this far!!!
Randa

Wish i could help, but i've never used a photo organizer. I just have all my scrap files set up by designer and/or site i buy from. All are just in "my documents" on my puter.

i've always used cds for back up but have just started using dvds. either way, i don't print out anything to show what is on them. just simply write in marker what is on the cd.

sorry no help but welcome!

head on over to the photography forum and please read the first 3 parts of my workflow tuturial.. it should give you a pretty good idea of how to use a catalog program such as Idimager to organize your files.. I use the program to organize all my photos as well as all my scrapping items.

I store all my files in a folder named for the web site. I keep each kit in its own folder and rename the folders by designer name and kit name -" Jane Doe Christmas Joy " so each designers kits are grouped together. i use both a photo organizer but also just use Windows folders view alot.

Welcome Randa, well one thing for sure if you get this "all" figured out before you jump in...you would be the only one to accomplish that feat!! LOL
I agree a good organizational folder structure on your computer is a must...
I do this:
1st folder in My Documents 2006 or now 2007 Digi Scrapbooking, then I have folders by site names. Inside those folders with the Designer's Name, inside that one - more folder's named for the kit...
I know it probably sounds so confusing to organize and see all these folders, but it is so easy when it comes to unzipping new things from designers that you already have.
Then once you start to catalog your items with a photo organizer It's a little easier. I have recataloged my items about 3 times so far and now am looking at trying it again...since I fell behind and really don't like the organizer I was using.
hth's a little...just jump in and you will be right along with all of us!!
