Beginner photosop question

Hi friends,
how do u make two images blend well.. i am trying to create a header for my web page and it has a grey bg and i put an image on top. Now i dont want the square edge of the snap but rather it just blends with the grey bg... like the header on this website of this girl and the blue bg.

How can I do this..I am relatively new to photoshop cs2.

Thanks in advance
Nonny

Hi Nonny
Your best bet is probably to use a gradient.
Select your gradient tool and the dark to transparent gradient.
This tutorial explains how that works

Here's an easy quick way..

1. open photo one and two
2. drag photo one onto two and resize as needed. A new level is added
3. on the new level, add a layer mask
4. using a B&W gradient, draw the line right where the photos blend.
5. use the blur tool or paint with black with low opacity to further blend.
