What do you prefer for organizing?

OK. I'm an organization FREAK! So... if I'm going to get into the digi thing, I'm going to need a really REALLY good system to organize stuff.

I've seen recommendations for Photoshop Album (does this come with PS 7?) and for Picasa. What are your reasons for choosing one over the other?

Thanks!

I've heard some awesome raves about ACDSEE too. I think I read a thread here somewhere that it's going to be sold at the SBB store? Not sure if I remember correctly. I've been eyeing that program. Looks like an awesome tool, from what I'v heard.

ACDSee by far - download the trial - you wont regret it. Ive tried everything and its definately been the best, fastest and easiest to use.
I even wrote a few tuts for it to help get started which you can see here:

I keep all my kits and downloads in their own folder inside a folder named by website. I rename all my kit folders with the designer's name so everything is grouped by ABC order. I also use the Organizer in PSE 4 but alot of time I just use the "Folders"" View option in Windows to "rummage" through the kits. Will definitely take a peek at the ACDSee. My Organizer catalog is so large -it's kind of slow for browsing.

I have a bit of an archaeic way of organizing. When I download a kit I saving it by kit name and a separate folder on my desktop. When the folder is big enough I burn it to a disc. I also print previews of each kit and have them alphabetized in a binder and labeled with the disc number.

I don't have a very fast computer or a lot of memory so for now this seems to be working well for me.

Thank you all SOO much for your replies! I downloaded a trial of ACDSee and LOOOVE it so far! I've got all my stuff tagged already, and now just have to put it to use.

You all rock! So glad Laurie (coffeequeen) dragged me in here.
