Question Best way to vignette/center spot?

Hi all-

I know how to use filters pretty well, but what I am trying to do is take a photo and give it the look that I would get if I used an actual center spot filter at the time I take the photo. I do not want to delete the BG and get another color, I want to keep the entire photo, but create the clear vignette/center spot look. I have tried xero's soft vignette and see no changes at all. I have tried a few vignette actions, again no luck...

I use PSCS, thanks for the help!

Hi for the Xero's soft vignette I used these settings and I can see changes in PSPX.
First I changed my color palettes to a really bright pink so I could see what was happening.
Gradient Shape: Elliptical
Checked: Sharp
Effect type: Used my bright pink (Foreground/background color)
Repeats: 0
Width: -100
Height: -100
Strength: 255

Then after I could actually see the effect I was able to play with changing the settings. however you're right there is not much of a noticable change if you change the effect type to say mist without changing the Strenght right along with it. Seems like the effects all come with a preset strenght comman that needs to be altered to see them stronger or to weaken the effect.

cool- that works better.... but how would I do it so that the color (foreground) was mostly transparent, so you can softly see the BG thru the vignette?

Did I ever thank you? I apparently just needed a reminder of how to play with it! I am having a blast now and all is good....
