Ok, I was at the state fair this weekend and so wish I took my camera, but of course I didn't want to lug it around..now am kicking myself. Anyway I was looking through the photography area and saw this picture from far away it looked like a polar bear, but as you got closer it was several (probably hundreds) of smaller pictures that made up the large picture. Anyone know what I am talking about? I would love to know how to do this or if there is a trick to it. Or if anyone does it and how much they charge?
Anyone seen this before?

i have seen those before in mags and such.. but would have no idea how to go about creating it. sorry.. Its a brilliant photo technique though

I know, I just love it. I mean if you could figure out which photos to use where it would be easy, they were all square photos. It's just trying to figure out the placement of the photos.

There are a few programs out there:
ArcSoftis one just Google 'photo mosaic'
a really cool effect. I downloaded a trial version of one a few years ago, lots of fun!

Does the trial version let you do this? And does anyone have ArcSoft that has tried this to know how well it works? I don't mind spending the money on the program if it's worth it.
