printing & binding - help

Hi,

I want to get scrapbook layouts printed and bound so that I can give them as presents this christmas.

I havne't decided on a size 8x10, 8.5x11, or 12x12 (leaning towards 12x12).

Can you tell me about places that you've used. I'm assuming that I'll be doing this online and having it mailed back to me.

I don't know what sites are available and reliable for this.

do they set the number of pages per book or do I? will they print both sides of a page (and if so will I see the other side of the page through - that would not be good). any other questions I should be asking?

please advise,

Valerie

I used My Publisher recently and was very pleased with the results. Don't know if they do 12x12 though. They have specific sizes to choose from so check it out first before you design your pages. They do full bleed and the white edge- whichever you want. They will do front and back but it counts as two pages. The are reasonable in cost.

Hi I am a graphic designer for a printing company here in Missouri. My suggestion would be to contact local printers in your area. You need to find out what equipment they have for binding (they will explain all of the options). Just about any printer can do Letter size color without a problem. If you want to do 12x12 you need to find a printer w/ a large format printer. As far as paper choices matte or gloss is strickly preference. DO NOT go less than 70lb index or yes it will show through. Other than that two sided is not a problem.

Most printers can pull your files off of a disk if it is a pdf. You can email me if you have any questions. I help people with this all day, so I am more than happy to assist!

Heritage Makers does a really nice professionally bound, hard back book. PM me if you want more info.
