resolution

I have some old photos that are pre digitial era. I have scanned them into computer and changed the resolution to 300dpi. The photos are not big enough for my layout. How do i enlarge them. I use Shift and Transform but they look grainy. How can I enlarge them or are they a lost cause. I use PS7.

Hi Michelle
You need to scan them at a much larger resolution - thsi article should help explain it fo r you It has a chart part way down to tell you what your scanner settings need to be to get the result size you want

HI Michelle as Stacey says - you need to scan it at a higher resolution to start with.
So in your scanners optiosn dialog change teh resolution to what you need say 600ppi before you choose to scan.
