Smile Canon Digital Rebel XT Question Downloading without a computer

Ok, here is my question. In about a month we are going to see Thomas in another state. I want to use my digital camera to take the pictures, but I don't know of a way to download the pictures while we are there. We are going to see Thomas 2 days. I know I will fill up my memory card on the first day and won't have a way to download them so that I can delete them and use it for the next day. Does anyone know if there is any type of device that would let me do that? I thought in the past I had read something to that effect, but now have no idea where I read it. Or what are your suggestions?
Thanks
Angel

You can buy a larger memory card I can't believe you'll fill it up in 2 days w/a decent size. When I went to DisneyWorld, I used 2 - 512MBs (and also had as back-up a 256MB and most of the 32MB in DH's camera that he barely used )

You could always find a Walgreens or other place w/a photo development kiosk and burn them to CDs to free up the space. But WOW - using up a card in 1 or 2 days lol.

btw...I now also have a 4GB card plenty of room for me.

also lol...I actually only had 1 512MB card, but borrowed one from my sister for the trip. Maybe you could borrow someone's for the trip?

I agree with both ideas...borrow a memory card, or go to a photoshop that will burn your images onto a CD....I understand how you can take loads of pictures though...I do it almost every day!

Epson does make a portable file holder thingamajigie (yes, we're highly technical around here, lol!). I don't know the exact name of it or the price, but my dad just bought one from Circuit City. You put your memory card in it and it will download your photos onto its drive for safekeeping. I can ask him if your interested, although if you have access to a lab somewhere I'm sure it would be alot less expensive to just burn a cd.

just remember -- if you burn a cd from a one hour lab somewhere, it's always wise to check the cd before deleting your card. Sometimes technology fails, sometimes the lab associate mixes up an order... Things happen, so its always good to double check!

Wolverine, like Epson, has a portable storage viewer. The one that you can view is more expensive but if you don't need to view the images once you copy it to the storage device they are very inexpensive. Fry's usually has Wolverines on every quarter. Costco also carries the Wolverine with the viewer.

This is all great info. Heather M, yes if you can find out what it is that would be great. I did look up the Wolverine, I would just be hesitant about deleting the files from the memory card because you wouldn't have a way to make sure that they are there. I have a 1GB memory card and it only holds 300 pictures. Maybe I should watch for some memory cards on sale or something before we leave. I could take it and get them put on a disk, but I hate the thought of deleting the memory card before I have them downloaded on the computer. I just looked at Costco I didn't realize you could get a 4GB memory card, that would hold 1,000 images, now we're talkin Thanks for all your help everyone, I think buying a bigger memory card will be the way to go.

So, I found out the product for you. It's the Epson P-4000 and its $700. whoa. So, unless your a pro and really need 80 gb of space, the extra memory card or a cd sounds like a much more reasonable way to go.

Good luck to ya! Enjoy your visit!!
