Do you have more info? Do you already have Photoshop open and are you opening the files through PS or are you opening from Explorer? It most likely has to do with the way your file associations are set.

You mention that "some" of your downloads open in Adobe Image. Well, which files open in what program? Is it a JPEGs, PNGs, or GIFs image that is causing Adobe Image to open? You probably first need to determine which type of files are opening which program and go from there. Then check your Preference folder in Photoshop.

HTH a little.

This problem doesn't haven't anything to do with them being "downloads". Once they are on your computer they are just like any other image that you have on there.

If this is happening when you are clicking on the image file to open it from your file manager, then, as was mentioned, it isn't a problem with it being a "download" thing, but rather the way your file associations are set. Find out which type of images are loading into Image Ready (jpg, png, gif, etc). In your file manager (Explorer), right click on one of those types of images. Select properties. On the general tab you have a place to change what program opens that type of file. Click change and pick the program you want to open your files (sounds like you want Photoshop as the default). If you always want that program to open that type of file, be sure the "Always use the selected program" box is checked. Click ok and you should be set.

HTH,

Same thing happens to me Michelle, when I'm trying to veiw my new downloads by just opening folders. It seems to be the PNG files that want to open Image Ready, and I know it's such a pain because it takes FOREVER to open and then you just close it anyway. The papers are usually saved as JPEGS and don't have this problem viewing at large size. The best way I've found to view all your supplies at the largest format on screen is to use the "filmstrip" option instead of "details (just words)" or "thumbnails", and then drag the box out as large as it goes. Not positive this is what you're talking about, but this is a problem I've battled too!

I have PSP 9 & PSCS2 on my computer. After the installation of PSCS2 it "highjacked" the opening of all my pic files. Probably because this was the last software installed.

I do the same as Dee Doo to change how I view/open files. I have mine set for Windows Pic & Fax viewer. If I have one of my graphics programmes running, then I open in that.

I just right click on the item then
"open with" (1/2 way down)
"choose program" (at the bottom of the list)
and in your case choose Photoshop- then before you close that window-
check the box the says "always use the selected program to open this kind of file"

similar to deedoo above
