Unhappy Opening downloads

Hi everyone,
I absolutely love your site, but I have trouble downloading freebies. I download ok and extract the files ok but when I go to use them I get a "Microsoft explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" message and I cant use my downloads. I dont know what I am doing wrong. Please please help.

Don't know if it would help in this case but using a download manager helps prevent corrupt/incomplete files.

I use the free version of download accelerator plus.

It might be that the file names are too long. It depends where you are extracting them to. The path name will only take so many characters. You may have to manually highlight files and move them to a file of your choice.

Yes, this too might cause it... what file is it? I can check into that as the cause as well if I know specifically the kit (and of course it's assuming it's an SBB related file).

Also this shouldn't be the case for "all" the downloads... if it is... I would persume it's something on the computer itself opposed to the downloads/zip files.

The only time I had that problem, was when the files tried to open in the default MS Paint Program (seems it doesn't like large files). Try right-clicking on the file you want to open, select "open with" and then tell it which program you use for scrapbooking. If this works, you can then set all the files to open with that program.

Another thought... was it a double zipped file? Are you able to view the thumbnails of the papers and elements in explorer? If not, you may need to unzip another layer.

Please keep us posted on how you make out.

another thought, run a virus scan, and also make sure you are up to date on Windows updates. My computer was doing this all the time, turns out I needed updates and I also had a virus (and then my computer crashed completely, but that's not related to this. lol).
