Save with layers or flat?

I'm curious. Do you save your files with the layers intact...or flatten them? Does it take up huge amounts of space with layers as opposed to flattened?

I save one of each. The layered one I save so that I can come back and make changes later if I want to.

The flattened image, I save for the web as a jpeg.

Yup, saving with layers takes up lot more room than a flattened image.

Most people save both ways b/c it's only WITH the layers that you can go back to your page and change things on it i.e. a spelling error, a funny drop shadow, etc. If you save only the flattened, then you will have to rebuild the layer from scratch in the future if you need to go back.

I don't usually save my layered files indefinitely, but at least for 3-6 months after I initially create the page. I know lots of people DO save layered and flattened indefinitely, but I just don't have the space to do that.

HTH!

P.S. I like your screenname.

At this point, I save my layered files and one for uploading to the gallery. When I am ready to take the layouts to get them printed, i will save them as a flattened jpg and burn them to CD. At this point, I would still rather be safe than have to re-do a layout from scratch because of some error I made.

I always save both layered and flattened files. I know it takes up HUGE amounts of space, but I always seem to think that I HAVE to save them....JUST in case I want to go back and redo them. I've rarely had to....maybe I'm just a packrat?

I save in layers. Have a ton of space so not a problem yet. Have a back up hard drive also.

Okay, I am going to be the odd ball here I only save flattened jpgs. I do not want the ability to go back and change... but that is just me... cause I know if I had the ability I would be redoing the same pages over and over again instead of doing new ones (just my personality ).

And I too love the screenname
