i only save a file w/ layers and then save a smaller file for web uploading. don't have so many space constraints & really like to be able to go back to original files as i please...and then i can flatten to save full size as jpg if i desire for printing, etc.

I only save the layered files for layouts that I may be adding more pages to or if I'm not quite sure of a date, or the spelling of a name so that I can change it if needed. I do quite a few multi page layouts and sometimes change the paper and element colors just slightly so I want to make sure I can recreate the same look for subsequent pages, so these files I will hang onto for a while. Mostly though, I delete the layered files, I figure it's easy enough to recreate a layout if I have the flattened file to look at, though I've never had to recreate one that I didn't have the layered file for yet!

I actually save 3 versions of each layout. The original layered psd, a flattened one sized to 8x8 for printing and a 500x500 pixel version for posting online. Once I print the layout I delete the "print" version because I can always go back to the original and make another one afterwards if I need too. Once a month I burn the psd's onto DVD's (I always make TWO just in case) and delete them from my drive. The only thing I keep on my pc are the little ones just in case I want them for something and they are all pretty small in size so no biggie. I will use them as avatars on MSN or something frequently..
