Unhappy I've lost it

I can't scrap. Well, I CAN, I just can't get the groove. I'll open my program, pull up photos, papers, elements, the whole works........and nothing. Can't do a darn thing. I've got great photos to scrap, I even know what KITS I want to use, but I just can't make anything work. I've started a LO with Kathryn's kit "Papa's Trains" with photos of Olivia at the train station WITH PAPA (how freaking perfect is that?!?!), but I can't do it! I've tried 4 times now. I can't get anything to work with any photos, any kits, anything. I'm so bummed. I've gone through galleries, I've seen some gorgeous LO's, left comments, added to favorites, you name it. I can't do it.

Anyone else ever get like this?

ugh i have..... it's horrible! lol.

when i get like this, i don't give myself any choice - i open my magazine closet, grab one random one, open to a random page and scraplift that page.. i figure if i don't give myself any time to think about it, i'm better off when i'm in that rut! lol.

unfortunately, I've been there more times than I care to remember.

When it happens to me, and if I've tried all my other remedies (browsing through galleries & magazines, etc...) I just leave the computer TOTALLY. I go out and do something - shop, play with the kids, etc. Sometimes it takes days, but eventually something will spark something inside of me and I'll sit at the computer and get inspired.

But it stinks in the meantime.

I know the feeling. I haven't scrapped a page in months- except when we did the Scraplift the Person above you challenge- then I did 4. I just can't get motivated. I'm doing the scrapping cruise but that's not till Feb. What will I do in the meantime? I need a good kick in the behind to get me moving.

Been there...done that....got the T-Shirts to prove it! Happens to me quite frequently Amy.

Sometimes, no matter how lovely the kit I've decided to use is....it's just not working for me with that particular layout/idea. Often time just switching my mindset towards using something else helps.Other times I find that I actually have to simply set that one aside and revisit it later.

When I'm really truly totally without an ounce of creativity I go to my stack of magazines and open up one of the pages I've "sticky noted" (layouts that I liked when I first looked through the issue) and just plain begin to scraplift the layout completely. The funny thing about that is...once I've laid out a basic structure using the design lines from what I'm lifting....I change this a little....tweek that a bit....and the next thing I know I've got something totally different than what I started out with.

Like Andy I've also learned that when I'm starting to feel the muscles in the back of my neck tighten up and begin snapping at the people who venture near me...it's time to shut down Photoshop and step away from the computer in lieu of some other activity. What I often do is get out one of my photography books and my Rebel and experiment with some photography techniques...don't ask me why but getting a new shot that I like tends to restore my layout mojo!

All in all...scrappers block sucks...but it happens to all of us!

Was just thinking of your train page.... What happens if you enlarge and desaturate the color of the main photo? For me, when I get stuck, I start playing with photo effects and sizes, and try to make it work that way. Sometimes I make the layout first, then plop the photos in (been doing that way too much lately). I know you will get over this, and girl you can "Hello" me when you need some help too!

Yep... it happens to the best of us! LOL! If I have lost my muse... then I just try and do something completely non-scrapping / art related. For instance... take a walk, clean the house, organize a drawer or closet, work in the garden. I find that if I "force" it, I get frustrated and irritable. If I just give it some time and not stress, it never fails that inspirations will hit when I least expect it.

The thing I find that inspires me the most is to go to google and type in something I am interested in and then I get lost in the web ~ It's really amazing what you can find just by typing in a few words. You could just type in trains and see what all comes up.
Sometimes it just takes getting away from it all though so if thats the case.... Read a good book, Listen to some music that inspires you, Find a friend and go out to coffee/Tea/Pie.
Hope it get's better soon!
