What type of albums do you do?

Ok question of the day what kind of albums do you do?
  • Family
  • One per each child
  • occasions
  • one per year per child
  • or something else that i have yet to think of lol

I have been pondering this thought a lot. Wondering who dose what and why. So what works for you ? why do you do the things you do? I cant wait to see what every one says, i think this will be very interesting.

I don't know, Jess- my layouts are all over the place... I was just thinking about this yesterday: If you make an album, are all the papers supposed to match? Like from the same kit? I never paper scrapped so I have no idea how that works.... It seems like it would make sense, but i guess people can do what they want, right?

But really, the goal is to do one per each child, family and occasions.

No not all the papers in the album have to match. In some cases it would be very difficult to do that. Now on a wedding album or an occasion album that might work.

I pick my papers to match the personality of the photos. Now i have found that if the to facing pages in an album have some continuity it is more pleasing to the eye.... Just think along the lines of complimentary colors or style of LO. When i put my albums together some times the pages are a little out of order ( may and then April or a fall page by a spring ) so that the story of the album flowes better.

I have found for the most part you just have to play with things to see what works for you.
my SIL always dose 2 page spreads and only 2 page spreads so that the facing pages match and so that she can run in chronological order, April 1st April 2nd... not kidding .
Try laying out an album and see what you come up with.

And you are right you can do what ever you want. They are your memorys.

I kinda run amok on that, which is weird, being such a control freak, you'd think I'd NEED to have them done in chronological order. But I don't. This may also sound weird, but I consider this to be my 'art' as much as as my 'history'.

I do have a concept of how everything will look once printed--

an 8x10 album of month to month life,
an AAM book,
an 'art' book (such as my kids as fairies, or my photo mash-ups, etc),
a favorites book (which is favorite pics or layouts)
and two baby books (one for each baby)

I'm considering a heritage book, but that's a whole other can of worms.

Other than a 'final' ideal, layouts are done in this order:

most recent pics (to keep up my pace)
pics I just love
challenges
general stuff

Maybe I'm more thought out than I thought. RATS! I thought I was finally letting go!

I do a little of all of them. I have a family album, a school album for each of my 2 children, and album for my grandkids, 1 about just my baby sister and her kids, an album of their own for each of my kids, a general places we've been album and then 1 for each of our larger trips like NY, an album of just my photography and I"v started one on my puppy Lilu, oh! and one on just my husband amy anniversary trips. I am so glad that I found digi sacrapping. I am running out of room for albums!

One album for all my layouts - I say one album, I mean one for every 140 layouts, then it's full to capacity and time to buy a new one! I am a freak about ordering them chronologically too - sucks when I find older pics that I haven't scrapped yet and have to move everything one along!

My albums all go by the year. I do have a baby album, which is to 12 months, a wedding album and am working on our family heritage which will probably be 2 albums. My main scrapping is my son, so I just go with the year-year - I keep it simple!!

I have the following albums started:
- 1 album for each of my nephews
- since I take month long vacations, 1 album for each destination
- a new album each year for our daily life"
- just started the AOM album
- ABC album
I'm like mdrj99, not enough space for all my photo and now digital LO albums. I used to the same size leather albums for all my photos, now with digital LOs, I have all sizes! Hard to look neat and organized with different sizes.
