Thankyou Stacey, your info is great. I have already turned on my rulers and I'm going to use them in inches ( even though being an Aussie I am much more comfortable in centimetres)but I am getting more familiar with inches since starting scrapping. The pixel thing is just too advanced for me just yet. I know what you mean about realism because that is what I want for my printed LOs.

Jen, you can certainly use cm's on your ruler instead of inches. I don't know which program you are using for sure but I know that in PSP we can make our rulers change to pixels/centimeters in the program preferences. Sorry I just always say inches as that is what term I think in when talking measuring items..ya know being american!! LOL

I would also like to add that you might want to try view>print size this will also give you an idea if your journaling is too big or too small.

Glor- welcome to SBB! At the very top of photoshop there is a menu bar where you'll find: file, edit...... down the line there is the word view- click on that and then rulers.

If you are more comfortable with CM then use CM! *laugh* The key is to visualize what you're seeing on the screen in comparison to what "standard" would be in the real physical world. The rulers let you see that relationship to some degree. So if your picture sizes are stated in cm, then by all means use cm.

*scratching head* a 12x12in layout, hmmm, that would be about. . . what?. . . 30x30cm? Please keep in mind that is a rough conversion on my part. I'll be sticking with inches myself.

I think I'll stick to inches. I seems when most people talk scrapbooking they seem to talk inches, even over here. I guess it's kind of become the standard term.

Thanks for the idea about measuring the RL scrapbooking items. I will have a notebook and a tape measure the next time I visit Michael's. I like things to look real, too.

In PSP, if you go to the View menu, you can turn your rulers on. HTH
