Plug-ins: How/Where do you put them on the hard drive?

I have some of the Redfield plug-ins, and I have some actions/effects from Atomic Cupcake.
I use DIP but am forcing myself to learn Photoshop (I have both PSE3 & PSCS, the latter of which I am forcing myself through the Classroom in a Book!) Any info could pertain to what/how to deal with them in either DIP or PS! THANX!

my actions for photoshop go here:
start>my computer>c drive (or wherever you have photoshop installed to)>program files>adobe>photoshop>presets>photoshop actions
then to load it into photoshop i open photoshop (obviously, lol) go to my actions pallette and right at the top you see a little arrow, click that, and go down to where it says load actions, a window will pop up and then select the action you want to load. and thats it! hope that helps!

Thumbs up Okay, that helps....more...

I already had the Redfield plug-in in my PSE file, so that confirms what I thought to begin with...I'll ask about DIP in the DIP forum.

Okay, so what about texures?? Do you put them in your picture file, in your PS file (somewhere?) or what? I have probably 75 textures I d/l from Redfield also, and at this point I haven't even unzipped the file, which I've had for over a month! Once I have it unzipped somewhere I'll figure out what to DO with them next! LOL

I appreciate all the help! I am DETERMINED to figure out how to make this all work so I can start doing my own stuff too!! I love kits but I really want to make my own papers and elements too.

I am using both DIP and PSCS2 I keep all my Filters in a folder under C:// My Documents/Filters thsi way the filters are easily available for both programs - in DIP I just choose that folder as my default filter location.

I keep all my PS actions and textures etc in a folder under C://My Documents/PhotoshopStuff with subfolders inside for Actions, Brushes and Patterns rather than in the PS folders simply cause i find it easier to keep track of them that way.

THANK YOU ShellyRae! That was exactly what I needed to know! Everything I read about the filters and actions, etc. say to put them in PS folders...but then I can't figure out how to access them when I'm using DIP! Okie dokie things are getting a little clearer now!
A question for you then: Why do YOU use both programs? I am forcing myself to learn CS2 right now, but I must admit I'm much more comfortable with DIP. I know PS has 100x the capability, which is why I want to learn it. You're a designer, yet you use both. Why?
Just curious!!
Thanks again!

I find DIP does 99% of what I want it to - I am more able to easily manipulate DIp as I am so comfortable with it - what I did want to take advantage with by using PSCS2 was the blending modes, which allow me to use filters like the Machine Wash for texture and actions - basically to make my life a little easier. I still design everything in DIP but add finishing touches such as textures in PSCS2. I dont have the time right now to devote to learning PSCS2 as comprehensively as needed to do all i can do in DIP.
I dont expect one progam to be able to do everything really - PSCS may be the ultimate program but did you know the filters in DIP are rated better than those in PS for effect? and what takes one step in DIP to accomplish can take 5 steps in PS for exactly the same result. I'm quite happy to use both as and when needed

Hmmmm, great thoughts, thanks! I must admit, I do love the relative simplicity of DIP compared to PS! If I can figure out how to make the plug-ins work with DIP then I'll most likely stick with it more than PS too. You've been a great help, thank you!

What problem are you having with the plugins in DIP?
