Any FlyLadies here?

Is anybody else here using FlyLady? If so, I’d like to know how you cope with the many e-mails. I joined a couple of days ago and I am totally annoyed by the number of e-mails I’m getting. I don’t want to turn it off all together, however. I kinda like some of the reminders.
Also, for those of you who’ve been doing the FlyLady thing for a while, how is it working for you? Have you seen any changes in your cleaning and organizing habits? Does it work for your exercise routine and healthy eating, too?

I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion.

I tried it a couple of years ago and finally gave up. My inbox was way too full from her and it was annoying- so I unsubscribed. I never did follow her plan.

Hi Jana!

I have been using flylady for about 5 years now. At first I was overwhelmed with the e-mails too..until I took Marla's advice..... DELETE them. They are not actually meant to be read - at least not the reminders, all you need to do is read the subject line and see if you have done that, if not... then get up and do it!

After a while, you will start devolping your own routine for how things get done at your house, and you will have already done them

Hope this helps some!

I used to be on the list and eventually developed my own variant on here system. Use your e-mail filter to send the ones you want right to the garbage ... like if it says "shoes" in the subject line and you don't need a reminder to put on your shoes ROFL then have your e-mail filter just dump it for you.

OK I am just starting to get the hang of this. I am very disorganized fly by the seat of my pants kind of person, very capable of getting stuff done, I just don't. FlyLady has helped me in a lot of ways. One thing I did was set up a new yahoo account just for Flylady. That way I don't have to weed through all of that when I am in a hurry. Then I can read some of the inspriational stuff when I need to be brainwashed and forget why I am doing this!! LOL. What has helped me the most is the focus on routines and building new habits into your life. They REALLY help! I have three boys, the oldest is five, and we are starting homeschool kindergarten. I also just found out that I am pregnant with #4. Routines have helped me, and the idea that I can do anything for 15 min. Even though sickness is coming on strong there are a few things I know I can maintain, keeping my sink clean, making my bed, and doing the laundry. Those are the things I have down, and those are the quickest and easiest areas for me to get behind and feel bad about. I notice little things now, I am going on a date with DH tonight and he got a babysitter, and I am not even freaking out because I know my house is reasonable clean, and I can just tidy up and go have fun. I have been getting e-mails since June and am just now beginning to really see some of the rewards. It takes time to change years and years of bad habits. Stick with it if you can, I think she has a great system, but I would totally set up a free Yahoo account for the FlyLady e-mails. Hope that helps.

I just started a few days ago also and i did have the emails sent to my yahoo account and not my hotmail account so that it would be easy to keep track of it all. So far not bad. I really need help. My house is a disaster zone. I have liked the reminder. I don't have to think of alllllllll the things that need to be done . I just go one email at a time. I have thought that one thing that would be nice is a place to go and say WAHOO!! i did it... Or OK done with this be back in 1 hour when i have finished this. You know for a little encouragement.
