downloading with dial up

What are suggestions for downloading with dial up? My friend has dial up and would like to download kits, however, it's obviously very time consuming. I remember seeing something about setting it to do an automatic thing at night. How is all this done? I have DSL and it kills her that I can download much faster. DSL isn't available where she lives.

Maybe have her come to your house to download the kits she wants, and then burn them to CD for her to use at home? I think it says in TOA that you can access your account on other computers as long as you're still just accessing for your own personal use, right?

Dial up stinks!

I suffer with dial up too (without any DSL availability in sight )
I do very much appreciate when downloads are broken up into smaller files.
I'm not sure about doing it automatically at night????? I just let them run when I'm doing things away from the computer. . . . . voice mail is a must since my phone line is tied up a lot!

I don't have any hints for the dial up users, but I feel your pain! I've been there and luckily now have high speed connection.

If any of you have laptops and a network card, there are more and more places with free internet connection. The ones that come to my head are Mo's Southwest Grill, Panera Bread Company, Schlotzskys (I think this one is free). I also know that places like Barnes and Noble and Starbucks have access as well but charge you a fee to use it. Maybe you could have a "downloading" night and have some good eats and use their high speed access.

Sorry I can't be more of a help!

I have dial-up internet, and I use a download manager called LeechGet, load it up and let it go all night, or until Juno times me out. I also like the DownThemAll add-on for Firefox. There are lots of other options, just google 'download manager'.

When I had diapup I used a download manager (Download Accelerator Plus) and set them to download while I was sleeping.

So, where in download accelerator plus is the setting to download at a certain time? Do you just tell it all the links and leave your computer on? I guess I'm not following how you go about telling the manager what to download if there are several different files (or kits).
