Brand new user on a mission...

My daughter's horse who was her very best friend in the world had to be put to sleep recently. I have TONS of photos of them that I want to put into a scrapbook. I have lots of time on my hands and thought that this would be a good way to do it "my way" instead of buying a kit at Wally world or something like that.

Can someone direct me to elements and things to use with a horse/western/barn/old type theme? I want it to be something that she will always treasure.

Thank you so much
Tricia

Off the top of my head I can think of only one horse related kit right now. It's by Christine Nash at Scrap Outside the Box. On the other hand, there are countless kits with outdoor theme and nature theme available everywhere you look. I think, to make your album really classy and coherent, you should chose one set that gives you a large number of elements and papers and stick with it.

I would also go through the free downloads area and look for kits with papers that are in shades of yellow, brown, green and orange. I've seen a horse-shoe in a kit of rust elements, but I don't know where.

In the downloads section - new element submissions I found Grandpa's Cabin. It's wonderful!

In the freebies section was a kit called "Grandpa's Cabin". It has rusted horseshoes that I have used on my layouts. For plain but not plain backgrounds, you could try the Stone Kit by M.Renfro. So many other free kits would work, but those are two that I have used for horse pictures. Dani B has some nice kits in the SBB store that work well too.

What breed of horse was it, and what coloring? I could probably direct you to some more kits here if you could include that information.

Here he is. Ladd was a 6 year old Breeder Stock Paint gelding. We had him for 3 years and he was truly a member of our family.

I found a kit in the freebie section that would work extremely well for you, based on Ladd's coloring. It is called "Smile Kit" by Dani ( found on page 12 of "Kits - paper sets" in the freebie area ). The stone kit I mentioned earlier is only in the paid subscribers are (sorry). Subscriptions are on sale right now, and they are well worth the money.

If you interested in purchasing kits from the SBB store, let me know and I'll tell you which kits I've used that would work well also.
