I posted this on my blog, but since nobody goes there yet, I wanted to post it here too.

In case anyone out there is listening (reading?), a nice little thing that you very talented, and often also incredibly generous folks could do for us, your customers, is this:

When you include previews or graphical readme files in your kits or other downloads, please use an exclamation point (!) as the first character in the file name. As in !preview.jpg or !kitname.jpg. -- that way, when we sort the files alphabetically, they are always at the top of the list. Pretty nifty, huh?

I rename those files myself, but if that became an industry standard, that would be pretty nice, no?

And while I'm making Christmas wishes (hee, hee, greedy aren't I?), including your name (or at the very least your initials) in the file name of each and every file would also be helpful -- and it would make it easier for us to give proper and complete credit when we post our creations made with your creations in the galleries "around town".

I've thought that the person's name on everything would be great, too. When there are many files open, it's difficult to backtrack to get to the original source. The name (and many designers now add it) makes it much easier!

Love the exclamation point idea Lisa! I always rename with the letter A at the beginning, but ! makes more sense! Hopefully this will become "an industry standard"!

Hmm... it's worth a try.

it certainly takes up less space in a file name than "preview" does! Thank you for the suggestion! It might even help me with my own personal organization.

I would also love for designers to put their name on each item. LOL...and since where asking I would love to see the terms of us in a jpg. form so that way when I use picasa it's all right there and I don't have to search through my numerous files.

Oh and the exclamation point would be a huge plus also for us that use picasa. I could just put in the exclamation point in the search.
