Introducing this Newbie-Advice appreciated

Hello,

I wanted to introduce myself. I'm new here and I have never seen a hard copy of a digital LO. I have been paper scrappin for a long time and just started reading about digital scrappin. I'm anxious to get started! I know that I need to buy software but when I went to the stores, my goodness there are a lot of them! I am somewhat computer savy, I also did some checking with printing 12 x 12 pages but I'm going to start off with having a professional print the first pages, before buying a $300 + printer, besides I never found any 12 x 12 paper is the local computor stores.

I am anxious and ready to learn! I have read about using the tutorials so I will be looking at those too!

Thanks in advance for your imput and suggestions!

Welcome! As far as programs go, I highly recommend Photoshop Elements for the beginning scrapper. You can probably find a pretty decent deal on it online or at a discount club like Costco, but it runs around $80. And with printing, a lot of people print at costco, which isn't too bad, like $3 per print or so. I resize my LOs to 8x8 and just print on my home computer. It gives me more flexibility with my photos too, since I don't have the best camera yet. I find it works best for me too because I can print directly on cardstock rather than photo paper, which is what Costco uses.

i agree w/ Meredith, Photoshop Element is a great choice and what i tell folks to get. While PSE4 is $80, you could probably find a version below that, PSE3 for $20 or so. Also, there are places you can send your layouts and they'll create a hardbound book for you. Good luck, this is an awesome, and adicting hobby!

I agree that Photoshop Elements is great for a person just starting to scrap digitally.
It is the program that I end up using the most, and I still consider myself new to this too.

As far as printing, I have printed at home in the 8x8 size.
But you can also take the files to a photolab and have them printed as 8x10 and then cut off the extra two inches.
There is some nice paper to print 12x12 on, but I have only seen it in one computer store in a larger city.

Welcome to world of digital scrapbooking! You will LOVE it!
