Exclamation HELP! I'm totally freaking out!

Yesterday I needed to print a digital picture. I couldn't find the original in my stack of CD's, so I cropped it out of a LO. I took the disk to Wal-Mart and printed the cropped pic on the Kodak Picture Maker. The pic came out, but it's not very good quality. Not clear or crisp. A little blurry. Now this is where I'm freaking. I've spent hundreds of hours on hundreds of digi LO's, but I haven't printed any of them yet. Is the pic I printed yesterday how my LO's will look when they're printed? Is there anything I can do to make the quality better? Help me, please!

A couple of things to check.
1. The resolution you saved the cropped picture at.

2. The resolution of the layout you cropped it from. (Did you crop it from a 72ppi preview or the original 300ppi layout?

I haven't printed anything out, but my dad was able to show my what my LO's would look like printed out. Turns out, most of my early stuff isn't going to be printable. I didn't know much about my digi when I first got it and just started snapping and scrapping. The resolution on it was set for email, which won't print well. It has to be set at the highest res for printing. You pics will be a lot larger, but great for printing. So check your camera and make sure it's set on the highest.

I'm not seeing an option on my camera to change the resolution of the pictures. There is an option for picture quality--best, better, and good. I've printed pics from the camera itself and they came out great. I use MS Picture It for my LO's. Does anyone know how to change the resolutions to save in Picture It?

BTW, thanks for your help.

Oh, yeah---once I change the resolution in Picture It, can I resave my LO's at the higher resolution to print or do I have to redo the LO?

You can try changing the resolution but if you're keeping the same "inch" measurement the quailty won't be great. You can always give it a try and see how one prints out though.

Depending what version of Picture It you have ..as there are several you can set the resolution of your canvas under Tools> Options> Resolution. There is a Quick Guide to PictureIt Premium 10 tutorial posted here that indicates how to set up a canavs at the correct resolution http://scrapbook-bytes.com/cgi-scrip...icle_394.shtml

I followed your advice, and my Picture It is set at 300 dpi. There is an option for 600 dpi. Do you think maybe it was just the way I printed it? (Kodak Picture Maker)
