Adobe Exchange Question??

Ok question about their downloads. If it says that it's "Licence: freeware" does that mean it can be used for commercial stuff? I know I've seen info in the posts on the exchange saying things like "Not to be applied to fonts and sold as alphas". Also with fonts same question? Anyone know? THANKS.

Freeware doesn't necessarily mean free for commercial use. You'll need to contact the designer for permission, to avoid copyright trouble. There are several threads in the Scrapping as a Business forum that go into more detail about this topic.

Yeah.. it depends on how the company defines freeware. In most cases.. freeware is exactly that.. free to use however you want. But - some people want to give their software away for individual use.. once you start to make a profit by using their software... well.. they rightly want a piece of the pie as well.

Missy are you talking about the freeware, styles, shapes, actions, gradients, patterns and such?
Or are you talking about an actual freeware program?
I saw the term freeware associated with the stuff mentioned above!!??

Well on top of fonts I was talking about the things on the exchange that people offer as you mentioned Tracey. Most are listed as freeware and do NOT have TOU files with them (say like a style). I did see some listed as do NOT apply to fonts and sell as alphas so I assume that I could NOT use for commercial stuff. But all the other stuff lists as freeware??
I guess my other question is if I am only offering freebies and NOT making money at it does it count as commercial?? Or does it not matter since it's going to be offered a bunch of people. I've bookmarked the copyright sites that people have posted and plan to do TONS of reading.
THANKS for any help.

Yes... usually if You have a commerical business and post the software under that commercial enterprise... then you will violate the licensing agreement whether you make a profit or not. But, there are a number of different freeware licenses.. so you need to read them in detail to understand what you can/cannot do.
