I used Shutterfly last year and was pleased with the quality. The pages are a heavy card stock and Shutterfly always seems to have sales. Sign up at the site and you will receive coupons.

I am also in the process of creating calendars and it seems like yesterday it was January and I swore I would sit down and do one a month.. YEAH right!!
I usually go to Office Max and have them printed but I think I am going to try Kinkos this year. I am going to look at shutterfly but I don't want to pay over $10 a calendar.. cheap i am

This isn't exactly an answer to your question regarding online or other services, but I have been making family calendars for a couple of years now and I have just been printing them out myself. Mine are only done using 8.5 x 11 paper and my printer doesn't even do borderless printing on that size. For a calendar, though, having a white border isn't a big deal--at least not to me anyhow. I use the cheapest Kodak brand photo paper (about 100 sheets for $15 US) and print the photos on the "right" side, and the calendar part on the "wrong" side (which is easy to write on, if you want to). I collate them myself and then have them bound at Office Max for about a dollar each. The biggest expense is the ink, really. I haven't tried shutterfly or any other service, but printing them myself has been fine and I have a very average printer.

I think, from what I can calculate, I spend maybe $10 per calendar this way. I see that Shutterfly is $20 a calendar and theirs look to be smaller than what I do.

Also, I have been using Broderbund's Print Shop, which has a calendar template. All I have to do is type in any holidays/birthdays/anniversaries I want and then slap my photos in place. It's more on the basic side of things but does have the capability to let you be somewhat creative with it. Not like PSP or PS though.

Anyhow, hope that you are able to get what you desire with this project. I hope you are prepared to do this every year though-lol--my family loves their calendars!!!

Carla -

I just finished mine and sent it to snapfish for printing about 2 days ago. I picked Snapfish mostly because, I needed an online option and they offered 25% off for duplicate copies. most online options i found were about 17-19 per calendar, and the others didn't have any bulk order discounts. unfortunately the are being shipped directly to the recipients, so i won't really know what they turned out like for a while.

cheers!

Last year I did the CD size calendars but this year I'm going to try Costco. They are 8.5x11 for $10 and you can start at any month. Unfortunately, it does not have the option of personalizing holidays, birthdays and anniversaries.

I do the same thing as PixChix. The first year I made calendars (2003), I bought a ream of 60-lb. Cougar Opaque for about $13 or $18 (can't remember) at a quick printer (it's the same stuff that they print their calendars on) so I could print the "guts" myself. I save the cover design to a disk and have them print it out because I like for the cover to be printed on heavier stock but my printer doesn't handle that heavier stuff very well. Then I have the quick printer (I use Pip Printing) add a piece of chipboard to the back for stability and clear acetate (?) to the front and bind it with the coated wire coil. I still have enough paper left to finish this year's calendar projects, and the printer either doesn't charge me at all for my calendars or only charges maybe $2 or $3 a piece.

You might just try printing/designing it yourself.. If you just use good quality photo paper (such as ilford matte gallerie), you will find that the paper stands up to a lot of abuse and can absorb perm marker nicely. I purchase this paper for about $20 per 25 sheets.. so print each calendar for less than $12 a piece.

I enjoy the freedom this affords me... once the template is created.. the rest is easy. Anyway.. enjoy! Good lUck!
