You may need to host the image at Imageshack (or somewhere else on the web for images/animations) and then link to it for your avatar?? Not upload directly from your computer.

I don't have the answer, but I'm anxious to find out what the answer is, especially before I go and make a new animated avatar. Maybe somebody has the answer? I know there's a lot of little bugs and kinks getting worked out, so we may just have to be patient. :-)

Yes, it is probably a bug with the new system - no problem taking a non-animated image though!!

Grrr... I went ahead and made an animated avatar, I guess I was feeling lucky, LOL. And sure enough, I get the same message about not uploading animated files. I think I'll post in the technical help forum to see if we can find the answers. I just finally learned how to make animated avatars, and I want to use them!

Bummer! I have a feeling this may have something to do with the higher security options that were instituted in the forums due to the problems we had. I don't know if it can be remedied, but I hope so! Ani-avatars are fun fun fun! ;-)

Pesto,
Pre-existing avatars work fine. It's only when you try to change it to a different animated one that there are problems as the OP stated.
