Red face Scrap Traitor?

Hello,

I currently have over 25GB of Zoo Pictures and I don't even know how many of Central Park Bird Pics. In my not-living-within-reality-time-constraints-optimistic mindset, I have plans to scrap all of these different animals, in addition to doing other types of LOs. Now, in my realistic mindset, I say to myself, "Yeah, right. Sure you'll be able to scrap all of these!"

So my answer to this dilemma is to put together an iPhoto book with one picture of each animal and then just scrap the rest of the pics when I can. Now this sounds like a good idea, but why is it I feel like a "Scrapping Traitor"? Also, does it seem like a waste of $ to make some iPhoto books and then scrap and print additional LOs later?

I really must be a scrapping addict, because Guilt is one of the cardinal signs of addiction! LOL!!! I know, I know I need some professional help.......

LOL.. too funny..
I have a gazillion zoo pics sitting here too..

I just think of it this way.. am I going to later want to go thru album after album looking at monkeys and tigers?.. I would make a page or 2 about the fun you had at the zoo and maybe burn the rest of the pictures to CD labled Zoo.. if you later decide to scrap them then they are still there but if not.. then no big deal, they are off your PC and saved nicely.. (I'm a packrat and could never tell you to delete them.. I got a digital camera so I could take tonnes of pics and save only the good ones but alas I have every pic I have taken saved.. )

I think it's a totally practical idea to do the iPhoto books! Why do you need to scrap pictures of animals unless there is a story to tell? I make mini albums out of mine because I still paper scrap. I will mat the photos and write a little something about our trip at the beginning of the album, but that's about it. Flush the guilt on this one!

I have a book that I just LOVE -- Scrapbook Tips & Techniques by Creating Keepsakes -- I have it marked up with post-its on ideas I want to use (someday! LOL!!).

ANYHOW, there is a great section called "25 ways to include more photos". It sounds like this could solve your dilemma. I really liked a couple of LO's in there where they did a 4x4 grid, and put photos in some of the boxes, solid papers in the others. The point is, you can do LO's with a TON of photos, and not label and journal everyone of them to death, so it can go quickly.

There is another cool page -- a cover page for a family album -- where the photos of various family members were cut the same size & used as tiles -- lined up in 2 rows of 9 photos at the top & bottom of the page with the title in the middle.

OK, so describing these pages is like trying to smell a color (ha!) but I think you get the idea -- you could do some LO's that incorporate bunches of the photos if you decide you really want to scrap them all (or most!!), the key I think is a really simply scheme (like the grid idea) so you can do it relatively quickly.

HTH!!

Gui, I have done a page similiar (I think) to what lisa has suggested. I go for walks every Saturday to the same place (long story, don't go there) and it is not all that interesting to be frank and I end up with 20 photos every Saturday. I don't want to toss 'em all and I don't want to scrap 'em all. I got Scott Kelby's The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers and he suggested a basic 3 x 3 grid (9 photos) with no real darkroom cleanup but major cropping as an incredibly quick and dirty way to scrap a LOT of photos. I will post it and you can see what you think about format.

Hey, why don't you do something like print the iphoto book with every 4th picture embellished with scrapping. That way you add some interest to the book, but most of the pictures are just plain animal pics. You could just do the scrap layout ones in 4x6 or whatever you are going to print the rest in. Am I making any sense?

And I have to chuckle at you needing help for your addiction. Physician, heal thyself. LOL.

What about getting into a circle group. You could ask the group to help you scrap some of the photos. I would personally put more than one photo on a scrapbook page though. I would love to have an animal albumn for my child and perhaps my nieces and nephews to look through. A circle couldn't scrap all your photos, but could help you a little and others might like an albumn like this.
