Have her try Lumapix's FotoFusion first. It's VERY easy and quick. And she can try it for free from Lumapix's website. I only use PSE, etc. for recoloring and other techy stuff, but I use Lumapix for my layouts. I tried using PSE and other more advanced programs and found it too time consuming to learn. Lumapix is a breeze....

Oh, I forgot to mention that while FotoFusion doesn't have the "layers" capability as the others, it still "sort of does" as you can move the elements "up" and "down" a level or bring it all the way to the front or back. It also has a background layer that it immoveable. I can't recommend this program enough for beginners or people who don't have the time or patience to learn the more technical programs. I started with PSE and found it daunting. I felt truly overwhelmed. Not so with FotoFusion... (and no, I don't work for them!)

I'll second the vote for FotoFusion. I use PSE and have for several years. I still use it for editing the photos. But with FotoFusion you can put together a lo in no time at all and it looks incredible.

Around here our office supply store has been selling PSP 9 for a final price of $19.00 after rebate. This is an incredible buy for what the software can do in my opinion. It is not what I use but at That price and knowing what older versions of there product can do, I am even thinking a copy just in case I ever want to switch to it.

If your friend can find a deal like that where she lives for $20.00 I would say give it a try.
