Font etiquette/use

Ok, so I am working on an alpha set for a kit that I am trying to make and I want to use this font, A Yummy Apology. I have had the font for a while, so when I looked to find the user license, I did not find one. I went to dafont.com and that is apparently where the font was that I got it from. I tried to download from there, but for some reason it didn't work. So I went to the home website for the font. It downloaded fine, as a zip. When I unzipped, no license agreement attached. So, I looked all over the website for a license agreement, anything mentioning use of the font for commercial purposes, and nothing. So, I try emailing the creator with the email that is listed as most recent and of course, it bounced back to me, the inbox is full. Anyways, I don't want to do anything illegal or use the font improperly, but I really like how it looks in the alpha I am making and I relly don't think I could find another one to replace it.

This also brings me to another question, I have fonts that I have bought from myfonts.com and I'm not sure if the user license that you just buy regulary would cover using the font in an alpha set if you planned to sell it. Anyone with any advice? Am I asking this in the right place? I am just a little frustrated because I was so excited to find a font that worked with the kit and now I might have to find another one, I'm bummed. Help please!

This font is Testware, in that you can use it free of charge
(non commercial purposes only) without getting permission.

1. This font can be used for personal use only. Businesses or companies
must gain permission for use.
I am sure if you were able to contact the designer you could get a licence for a fee but It happens, font creators change sites and emails like the rest of us.
keep digging and you never know somebody might be able to help. I would start searching for another font though

PS many fonts that you actually BUY do not allow alpha sets, I know it seems strange but they consider it 'redistributing ' their font. I do see their point.

great dani, thanks so much. that's exactly what i was hoping for, well i mean, the information is! maybe i can contact him somehow, i will keep digging.

I guess I can see the point about not using fonts as an alpha, but I hadn't even thought that it would infringe on that part of the license agreement. Wow, how do people find fonts to use then?

Pleeeeeeease send me that contact

Hi defbtlymb,

I have the same problem as you, using the font "a yummy apology".
You reached the creator of that font. Can you send me the contact?
You would spare me a lot of trouble.

Greetings from Germany.

Niles

Niles, I'm not sure Meredith will ever see this, so I took the liberty of emailing her for you. I'll post back here if she gets back to me.
