Question 6"x6" or 8"x8" - Opinions please

I cannot make up my mind about what size I want to print the layouts my sister sent. She's heavily into digi scrapping, too and made some beautiful layouts of her family. I want to put all of her layouts into an album. I do all my layouts in 12"x12" but think that I'd probably like to go a bit smaller with her layouts simply for money reasons. Now I'm torn between printing her layouts in 6"x6" or 8"x8." I'm kind of feeling that the 6" square is quite a bit small, but it would be a whole lot cheaper to print (in a photo lab). On the other hand I think that 8"x8" is a very nice size, not too big but big enough to show small details and, very importantly, journaling. However, it's a bit more expensive to have 8" squares printed, might as well go with 10". I don't know what to do. I've never seen a print smaller than my 12"x12" so I have no clue.

I need your opinions, pleeeeeeze.

PS. All my sister's layouts are 18 cm squares with is about 2126x2126.

I always print 8x8 and I love it that size - I just find 12x12 way to big for me. I think 6x6 may be too small, but it just depends on the individual layout I think. If it has lots of small journaling, or photos which are already fairly small 6x6 might be a bit on the small side to appreciate it properly. On the other hand, if it has one main photo and minimal journaling, it would probably be fine. Perhaps the best thing to do is have a sample of each printed and see which you prefer - I'm guessing it will be the 8x8!

I just love the 8 x 8 size. I've printed a few at 6 x 6 and I do like them, but they are kind of small for my taste - especially if there is journaling on them.

I have tried different sizes and I actually prefer the 6 x 6 but I usually only have one photo in my layouts, that is just MY style.

I find that because I only have one photo (even in paper scrapping I don't like more than two...reckon I could be a bit anal about this!!) there is plenty of room for journalling and the details have always shown up great so far.

If you have lots of pages with journalling go for the 8 x 8, if not then 6 x 6 is a definite possibility.

Yeah, I guess I'm kind of leaning toward 8"x8".

The idea was to squeeze four 6"x6" layouts into one 12"12" square and have it printed for just under $4 a piece which would come out a bit less than $1 for one layout. Now the question is how can I get 8" squares printed economically? The only option I've seen so far (with professional printing labs) is to print 8x10's and trim off to size. An 8x10 would cost about $2 a piece. (That's the best I've seen: Walmart and WHCC. If you know a better deal let me know.)

How do y'all get your 8"x8" layouts printed? I don't really like printing at home though. It just does not come out the same IMHO.

Like Jules, I tend to use only 1 photo so I prefer 6x6 now.

I also print 8x8 by putting 2 8x8 in a 12x18 so it works to 1.50 each.

I would like to know if there are 8x8 albums readily available. I usually print 8x10 because I can find the album so easily. I do like the square look.
