How do I make a color swatch? I have the colors I want, but don't know how to make a swatch with them. Thanks!

I wish I could make a swatch that looks like the real thing - but since I don't know how yet - here's my version (using PSE#3). I create a new document, 4" by 4" at 72 dpi, then go to View and turn on the grid (set at gridline every 50%, subdivisions 1 - you can play around with the adjustments in Preferences to suit your needs ). I then select one of the squares with the selection tool, then go to Edit - Fill Selection and fill it with the color of choice. Deselect that square and move onto the next one.
Clear as mud!? I hope this can be some help!

Thanks! That helps a ton! I have my colors ready, but was clueless as to how to make a swatch with them. I can definitely do this. LOL!

Are you using a version of Photoshop? Which one? If so, do you want the colors to show on the color swatch palette? This is done differently than what Mary described above.

I am using PSP8. I want to just make a simple color swatch that shows the colors I will be using in my kit.

In PSP 8, open a new image, I like 2"x4" at 300dpi for a 'paint strip' swatch, or if you want a square swatch just for pulling colors from, 300pixels x 300pixels is a good working size. Go to View > Change grid and snap properties and make sure your grid is set at .5 inches or 150 pixels. Now go to Preset shapes and select the rectangle. Now (here is where I always get confused with PSP) set your background color - the one on the bottom - to the color you want to use for your swatch and draw a square, using the grid to help with spacing, and holding down the shift key as you draw for a perfect square. Change your background color and continue drawing until you have all your colors on the swatch. If you are doing a paint chip or other printable swatch, I find it helpful to do every color on a seperate layer, makes it easier for me to go back and tweak if I want to.

HTH,
KayLynn
