Question Help with resolution...

Hi,

My computers are find it hard to deal with commands with the resolution at 300 and it keeps crashing them or taking forever to do something.

Would it be okay for printing if I changed the resolution down to 200? I've done some before at 200. I haven't had those printed at the shop yet, but I'm wondering before I make anymore if I can do it at 200? My comp can handle that without taking 6 hrs to add one **** picture lol.

TIA

Lisa

Some folks regularly scrap at 200 ppi and seem to find the results fine. I've done one project at 200 ppi and I thought the results were okay though I haven't looked at those prints in a while. It really comes down to you printing somethings at 200 dpi and seeing if you're happy with the results.

Also I'd guess the reason your computer is having issues with the high resolution is that you are low on RAM. You might want to look into adding some RAM to your computer then you could scrap at 300 ppi. Just a thought.

Re the RAM thing. I have two computers and both have meltdowns when I try the 300 res.

How do I find out what RAM my comp has and what should it be?

I'd recommend crucial.com for finding out what you have and what you can take -- you can download a utility that scans your system and works out what you need RAM-wise.

Lisa, I'm not sure what program you're using but PSE3's system requirements for the Windows version says that 256MB of RAM is required (512MB or more recommended). In other words yes the program will function with 256MB but when you start trying to do more memory intensive things like use images with a high resolution the program will really slow down.

Lisa,

For what it's worth, I upgraded to a gigabyte of RAM and found it to be well worth it.
